The Symposium is sponsored by IEEE Industry Applications Society, IEEE Power Electronics Society and IEEE Industrial Electronics Society.

Special Session

GoToTWIN: From Concept to Experiment – Digital Twins for Renewable Energy

The special session will present the IPA Interreg GoToTWIN project – Advancing Renewable Energy in the Adriatic Ionian Region through the Use of Digital Twins and provide an overview of its objectives, activities and progress achieved so far. The project aims to accelerate the integration of renewable energy sources through the development and application of digital twin technologies for renewable energy systems.

The session will provide an opportunity to learn about the current status of the project and its main results, as well as about opportunities for researchers, engineers and other interested stakeholders to become involved through the GoToTWIN Call for Experiments. The Call for Experiments provides opportunities to explore practical applications of digital twins in areas including photovoltaic systems, wind power, and hydropower.

A particular focus of the session will be the contribution of the University of Banja Luka, with a presentation of a simulation module for photovoltaic power plants developed as part of the project activities. The module represents an example of how digital twin concepts can be applied to renewable energy systems by combining physical models, operational data and meteorological information to support the simulation and analysis of photovoltaic power plant operation.

The session will conclude with an open discussion with conference participants, providing an opportunity to exchange ideas on digital twin applications, renewable energy integration and potential opportunities for further collaboration and experimentation.
